About Carolyn

About Carolyn

Carolyn (she/her) was raised two hours south of Melbourne on the picturesque Mornington Peninsula. After attending university, building her career as a NFP professional and extensive time spent travelling overseas, she returned home to the Mornington Peninsula to raise a family and pursue her passion for writing. Like many women, Carolyn's journey to motherhood did not go as planned and her personal essay about her experience, Motherhood, was published by women’s media company, Mamamia, in October 2022.

In May 2023, Carolyn's unpublished manuscript, Searching For Grace, was runner-up for the 2023 Maxy Awards, in the Romance and Women's Fiction category. Her short stories have won awards and been published in the media, online and in anthologies. You can read a selection of Carolyn's short stories via her bibliography page. Carolyn's been awarded two writing residencies and has a second, as yet unpublished, completed novel.

When not writing or attending writing workshop, events or retreats, Carolyn is a television and movie extra, where she has played a variety of roles, including teacher, hospital ward clerk, forensic scientist and restaurant diner. She is also an avid traveller and loves exploring new environments within Australian and further afield.

Carolyn lives near the beach, nestled amongst farmland, with her music loving husband, Lego obsessed son and a dog who is afraid of everything

I pay my respects to the traditional custodians on whose land I live and write, the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation. I pay my respects to their storytellers and elders past, present and emerging.
